Coord Badge

I was asked to design a badge for the coordinators. Faheem said that the coord badge of Shaastra 2008 was nice and he wanted me to do something similar. The old badge had some gears nicely blended in black. So i too started looking for gears... found many, liked a few and finally selected this one. I thought black would look decent. For the other one Hersh suggested that a hand drawing the dice would be symbolic, indicating Coords making Shaastra happen. Thats all for petty badges!! Lets which one gets approved.

Coordinator's tee

Felt like designing a coordinator tee, though it is not the most important thing to be done by the Shaastra 2010 Design team at this moment. Frankly speaking i (kind of) got the idea from a random google image search. I liked it... Dont mind wearing it! If you don't like it, don't ever see it... And if you are maadddly waiting to wear this, hold on... it is yet to be finalized.

The Godav Tee...

Gen Sec is offering a whooping 1k for the best design, "How can I not design one...???" So I had to design a T Shirt for my hostel Godavari. http://hostels.iitm.ac.in/godavari/ (The landing page image has been designed by me!).  And as usual my mind went blank and I ran out of ideas. Couldn't think of something which could attract attention of hostel junta and of course, the 1k as well! I suddenly remembered Gang'a'ster... a spoof previously used by Ganga hostel. I somehow came across 'The Godfather'. The next step was to merge it with Godavari which later formed the front part of the tee. Wanted to keep the back simple with a one liner. Thats all the tee seemed to be ready. Indeed.... Geeks dream, Gods do... and I did!

So insti people, get ready to see this frequently on your hostel Notice boards.Wanted to give it an Indian feeling... something desi! So i just googled for some font which looks like Devnagri. This font is called 'Samarkan'. Hmmm.... well i guess i got what i wanted.

I get a call from Jithin at 9:30 PM. He tells me to to come to Cavity's room. As soon as I enter the room, I get to know it's my cup of tea... Graphic Designing! They are the coords of this Shaastra event called IQ. They even managed to get a collaboration from 'Mensa-high IQ society'. Then began... The Quest for the next pseud looking poster. Partially inspired by a poster of the movie 'Rajneeti' this is mostly Pratul, Jordy, Bibhu and Cavity's idea.. Kudos to all of them, and also to me for making it happen!

Shaastra for Dummies

SHAASTRA for Dummies... available only at IIT Madrads..lolzzz! Come be a part of it 29th Sep - 3rd Oct. Want to use it in a tee. Hope no copyright issue arises..

Tried my hands at typography portraits... Well it does look like Albert Einstein, doesn't it..!! Filled it up with SHAASTRA. I guess its okay for being the first..:-)

Did you say fuel price hike..??? Well we have plenty in IIT Madras. Man power! I ve made this for SHAASTRA organizers... don't know for coordinators or volunteers. Here's a PJ.... Boost might be the secret of my energy but Coords and Vols are certainly the secrets of SHAASTRA's energy! Lets see if this gets printed.

GTA Hyderabad

This is dedicated to all the GTA as well as Hyderabad lovers like me....! Hmmm.... waiting for rockstar games to get inspired by this..:-)

SAARANGish....

Okay, first let me ask you a question... How do you define SAARANGish? Well for people who don't know what Saarang is, it is the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras... (check out http://www.saarang.org). Coming back to SAARANGish... anything which has a lot of colours is assumed to be SAARANGish, here in campus.... "How can we ever have something SAARANGish in our techfest Shaastra...?" This was supposed to be a poster for new events of Shaastra 2010. Although it was the typograph which had a lot of colours, peolpe were of the opinion that the box should be changed to some brown carton or metal safe box or something more techie... I used the gift box to give it a fresh and new feeling. This poster is kept aside as for now, as it is SAARANGish. Finally i too agreed but didnt stop wondering whether should i use a brown carton or a metal box to wrap a cellphone if i have to gift it to someone......

This was my entry for Chemical Engineering Department T-Shirt Designing competetion.... Guess what, I won the first prize!!! Feels so gud!

Well i have not done this. This one is by Shivani, a budding Photoshop Goddess! I liked the way the branches are made. Must say... Shivani, you have a lot of patience! Sincere efforts and wonderfully done. I mention it, its done in a single layer. Kudos to you!
